It has undergone some serious warpage to show the idea of the energy and forces at the center of the psyche pushing from a central source out and manifesting in the many different kinds of illusion. The traditional mandala is more obvious in the first draft of the cover shown at right. There is is superimposed over a picture of Dolores Park in San Francisco. A picture of Dahlia, the main female character is seen riding on a phaeton emerging from the center as great promontories of energy are coming over the rim of the world, or emerging from within. The front cover of Dolores Park above is a traditional Buddhism mandala of the 8 sorrows. The traditional mandala is more obvious in the first draft of the cover shown at right.
