Book Publishing
- Hitmotel Press publishes novels, poetry,
screen plays, technical writing and art on paper
and the web. We design animation, video and
audio for interactive CD-ROM on computers.
Founded in 1995 by Michael Lyons, HiT MoteL
was supposed to be as a seedy backwater literary
salon on the information super-highway, a place
for discussion of emergent complexity and the
spiritual, projective, actualist writing
community in pursuit of the energetic atemporal.
So far Hitmotel has of late been the publishing
concern for novels, the trilogy: Cultivating
the Texas Twister Hybrid, The
Secret of the Cicadas Song, Knight
of 1000 eyes and three novels of the sextet:
Dolores
Park, A
Blue Moon in August, and Thoughts
on Vacation.

interactive presentations to show some of the
aspects of interface design. The large green and
red areas are the visualization of geological
data indicating substrata density.

If you'd like to buy a print of the artwork . .
.
Many of these art works are made on the
computer with fractal and other CAD,
mathematical, visualization, and stellar
programs. There, the parameters of creation can
be varied causing aspects of a painting to be
distinct from print to print, rendering each
unique. The art works are resampled into
postscript, the mathematical page description
language, and thus are independent of the page
size they are printed on and the resolution of
the printer they are printed with.
From time to time shows of my artwork get
mounted. You can see some of the art work there
and order and buy most prints at these shows.
Contact us at hitmotel.com to find out where and
when a gallery will be showing near you.
You can also buy prints directly from me. My
standard prints come in an 8.5 x 11 page for
inexpensive distribution and framing. They are
$27.00 each. They can be shipped by US Priority
Mail for $3.85. I can accept checks, money
orders, by regular mail or bank transfers and
Visa, Mastercard, and American Express via
PayPal. Please inquire if you would prefer
custom sizes or enlarger made prints. Please
send e-mail for lead times and availability.

Patronage, Support Grants,
Agents
I've always been an
independent artist, preferring to support my
creative art work with wages earned in a 'day
job'. I have worked at just about every kind of
job there is. For two decades I had a career as
a techical writer that allowed me to make a
living through writing. It was a nice compromise
with time between contracts. Lately, since the
dot.com bust, I have had more time to produce
art, and have of late recidivated into my
impoverished boho ways.
Let me tell you, that
being a ‘starving artist’ working at
jobs and supporting my real work is not all that
romantic, especially at my age. Unfortunately
chucking it all and getting a job with
retirmement and benefits, really isn’t an
option; it is already too late. And plus, I
start to unravel after a few days or a week goes
by and I am not creating. It is not a pretty
sight.
So I am wondering about
getting a grant. But it seems like the work
required to do that would be more than the work
of creation. Maybe I'll meet a grant writer.
What about some kind of old fashioned patronage,
or (wonder of wonders) meeting an agent, an
angel who sees the light, and finally my writing
and art getting the backing to bring this work
to more people.
The trouble with
patronage is there aren’t many princes left
to approach, and the modern day equivalents in
business don’t have time to appreciate art
the way their predecessors did. And the
situation with approaching agents is even worse.
They want to begin the conversation with a
marketing plan. I loath self-promotion, and the
buying and selling, and am too shy to squabble
with the community of writers. But not being
able to create is an even less attractive
alternative. What about some kind of mass
patronage? Let the vox populi send in their
dollar votes? If any of the 100 or so who
appreciates what I’m doing on this website
and in the books, threw in a dollar it
wouldn’t offset much of the cost. Still if
you’re a prince (or princess) who can
afford to make a large donation, click the
Paypal button and add as many zeros as you
like.
What will you get for
your money? Not only my eternal gratitude, a
warm feeling inside, and bragging rights that
you’re an arts patron, but also the
knowledge that you’re helping to finance
the spread of enlightenment through the
understanding of complexity and the further
actual establishment of atemporal energetics.
Thanks.
Just click the PayPal
donation link below and make a payment via bank
transfer, e-check, or any major credit card. (If
you've never used PayPal, it takes about up
minutes sign up, and is even covered by FDIC
pass through insurance.)
